Jellybean Bear Curriculum: Teaching Methods Jellybean Park - Burnaby Campus
Prodigy Child Teaching Methods Back
Our Prodigy Child© Program is designed to awaken a child’s innate curiosity about their world and their place within it, teaching them Values, Drama and other subjects to pique their curiosity.

The values aspect of our program is modeled on the values program created for UNICEF. We cross cultural barriers to enhance your child’s self-esteem and character; to reinforce positive values such as friendship, honesty, fairness and cooperation; to define and explore the consequences of our actions; and to understand the importance of self respect and respect for others.

Because children thrive on imagination, we encourage the playful nature of children with drama activities that allow children to express themselves in a fun, supportive environment. Through this, children learn cooperation while building imagination, reading, writing and speech.

We have also included subjects such as Math and Science in the program in order to enhance problem solving skills. Using the Montessori Method, the Montessori Math materials give a child sensorial impressions of abstract concepts, such as ‘how big is a thousand’ and our Science program is very hands on, using experiences and experiments. From magnetism and simple machines to Paleontology and Oceanography, the amazement of our world is communicated through Science, encouraging children to ask questions and to begin developing a lifelong curiosity about our world.

Our Prodigy Child© Program also combines Montessori with a variety of methods and media that are as engaging as they are educational. Our Montessori Geography Curriculum uses large colourful puzzles and maps for the study of landforms and continents so that children can learn to understand and discover the world, while exercises in Practical life help children learn to meet their own needs, and to take care of the classroom. Through the experience of helping other children, children begin to develop independence, self-confidence, and self-respect along with developing focus, concentration and allowing the child’s independent nature to flourish.

“The years from 3 to 6 are the most critical for nurturing curiosity and laying the
foundation for future development”
